Things happen for a reason and then there are accidents.

For the things that do happen for a reason I wonder why  they happen.  Earlier today I was listening to a priest talk about sin.  We must suffer for our sins.  How much have I sinned?  How much more must I suffer before I have atoned for my sins?  Have I suffered enough?  Have I reached the lowest of lows?  I thought it was all over and done with, my string of bad luck and misfortunes last year.  This year is not promising.  Is this even the way to look at it...

And then this makes me think.. if everything is suppose to kind of balance out.  What about the people who live bad lives, but got it good?  When will they suffer?  Are they afraid that it will catch up to them?  Those who live a good life suffer too.  So why do they suffer if they're doing what they're suppose to be doing?

Why must everyone suffer?

Things do happen for a reason. But through it all good or bad, we have to take what has been offered to us by God. Take only the good and none of the bad.

Nothing in this world will ever give us a reason as to why God does what he does. We just have to remember to keep our faith strong and remember that there IS a reason.

You really start to understand the phrase "What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger," when situations arise.

Also, no matter how people try to comfort you and express their sympathy, nothing will ever make that feeling in your heart and in your soul ever go away. EVER. I still feel it til this day and I know you've been through it before.

I know you and I have both heard the oh so common "I'm here if you need to talk," and all that. But I am if you want to, even though I know it's probably something you don't want to express with anyone because I know I didn't want to. But again, I'm just offering my friendship, my heart, and my ears to you if you ever need anything.

Love,
Pat

Hey, suffering sucks. I know, but at the same time, I can't even imagine what you're going through. But remember, the world doesn't work on a good/bad scale that all balances out in the end. Life isn't fair, but the end of it turns out to be very fair.

Suffering is a test. How you react to it is the grade. Maybe God's trying to bring out a deep goodness that can only be brought out through suffering. Maybe God is bringing holiness out in those around you in caring for you and your family. I don't know. But we must all suffer because in the end, we won't know the good times from the bad if we don't have the bad.
